What should I put in a QR code?

A link opens a page when the code is scanned: a product page, a manual, a menu or a form. The shorter the link, the easier the code scans.

Plain text works for shelf and box labels: a SKU, a location or a note. Any phone camera reads it, no app needed.

QR code or barcode? A QR code holds links and long text and scans from any angle. Shop tills and marketplaces ask for an EAN or UPC barcode instead.
